PGF Showdown Tournament Rules

PGF Rules Shall Apply Except As Modified & Noted Below:

  • 4GG – (weather permitting) 3 Pool Play games into Single Elimination Bracket – seeding 1-8 at 10U 1-24 at 12U.  
  • Pool play games will be used to seed for bracket play.  Head to head will be the 1st tie breaker, run differential (maximum 10 runs per game) runs against, runs for and then a coin flip will be used.  
  • All teams must check in at designated registration area prior to their first game.
  • A copy of your roster and a copy of your insurance certificate must be turned over at check-in. Managers must keep a copy of birth certificates at all times. Any team found violating eligibility rules will be disqualified and entry fee forfeited.                
  • Umpire decision is final.
  • Teams must be ready to play 1 hour prior to scheduled game time except 1st game of the day. If field is open, games will start early. If we are ready to start a game early and the opponent is not available to play the team will forfeit the game at the tournaments discretion. 
  • It is the managers discretion how many they bat throughout the entire tournament.  If a manager wants to bat 9 they can or they can bat 9 through your entire roster.   If you bat your entire lineup you will have free defensive substitution. If you decide to bat your entire line up last batted out will be your courtesy runner for pitcher or catcher.
  • Mercy/Run Ahead Rule: 12 runs after 3 innings (2 ½ if home team is ahead), 10 runs after 4 innings (3 ½ if home team is ahead), 8 runs after 5 innings (4 ½ if home team is ahead).
  • Time limits (only the Championship Game will be untimed):

Game time starts at 1st warm-up pitch thrown by home team. No inning will start after 1 hr. 30 minutes. (All innings started will be completed).  

  • Pool play games can end in a tie.
  • Game clock will stop for injuries requiring ambulatory care. Game clock will stop for injuries which require cleansing and bandaging at umpires discretion.
  • During pool play, all extra innings after 7 full innings have been completed and time remains will be played using the International Tie Breaker.
  • If, on the judgment of the umpire, a team is determined to be stalling, time will be added to the game clock and the violating manager and coaches will be restricted to the bench for the remainder of the game.
  • New pitchers will be permitted 5 warm-up pitches. Returning pitchers will be permitted 3 warm-up pitches. No infield or outfield balls will be permitted after the 1st inning. Teams may warm up in the infield or outfield prior to the game if the field is open and time permits.
  • Uniforms must be worn AS DESIGNED. Tucked in all the way around.  Violation of uniform rule will result in the restriction of the player for the game. Continued violations will result in the restriction of the manager.
  • Jewelry cannot be worn by players.
  • During pool play, home team will be determined by double coin flip. Winner of coin flip gets choice of home or away.
  • During championship play, the higher seeded team gets choice of home or away and which dug out they will occupy.  If seeded the same, a coin flip will be used.
  • 1 game played makes the tournament official and there will be no refunds due to inclement weather except as noted on registration form.
  • In the event of inclement weather, the Tournament Director or Assisting Tournament Director has the authority to revise the tournament format in            order to complete the tournament.
  • In the event of inclement weather, and play is suspended, it will be the responsibility of the team manager to stay in contact with the Tournament Director and/or Assistant Tournament Director. 
  • Absolutely no negative cheering or comments are permitted by opposing players, coaches or parents. Positive cheering for your own team is permitted and encouraged. 

Absolutely no noisemakers, horns, clappers, or anything else deemed to be distracting by the tournament director shall be used. A warning will be issued; a subsequent violation will result in the forfeiture of the game.

  • No alcoholic beverages are allowed at the park, including the parking lot. Violation will result in forfeiture of the game for the offending team if parents/fans break this rule.
